Outside of the PMBOK, which study guide or book are you recommending for new folks wanting a PMP?

Michael – good question.
In addition to the PMBOK I’d recommend the following three Study Guide type references Andy Crowe’s for a study guide. His 3rd and 4th Edition Study Guides are outstanding, Rita Mulcahy’s 6th edition continues the solid tradition she created in her life’s work and our workbook (called WEMSHA) that is an exercise book first and foremost. Those exercises are two types: practical how to and PMP critical thinking ones with answers in the back
Rita Mulcahy’s is another good one!
Also try to get some context as well – bigger picture. Anything you can pick up or check out from the library from Carl Pritchard, Harold Kerzner or Neal Whitten is worth the time. Sometimes in the midst of PMP exam cram, test banks, etc its easy to loose sight of the underlying concepts (which in turn can impact exam success).
And please visit this blog as often as possible. Among our content and those on the blog roll (PMHub, DeepFried, Oliver H) I hope we provide a good well rounded resource.
