Four Fields Mapping (FMM) is a Japanese approach to project management. There is greater focus upon teamwork and quality and less emphasis on the individual activities. The four fields are: Team Members, Phases, Tasks, and Standards. First, the cross-functional team for the project is identified and then the project is broken into a set of phases. Within the phases are the tasks, which are the individual project activities. Any appropriate quality standards are listed for the tasks. All this information is placed into a graph and so is mapped out.
